The Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association convened its 2026 General Assembly (GA) today, bringing together members, board representatives, and stakeholders to review the organization’s performance and set priorities for the year ahead.
The meeting began with an official opening and welcoming remarks delivered by GA Chairperson Habtamu Zeleke. During the opening session, Ato Ahmid Said Ali, representing the Executive Director, introduced the program and agenda of the day to the General Assembly members.
Key presentations included the 2025 Board Report delivered by Board Chairperson Elias Zerfu, which highlighted major achievements and governance milestones over the past year. This was followed by the annual performance report presented by Ato Mesfin Sodo, outlining program impacts, operational progress, and ongoing initiatives. An independent audit report was also presented by Soliyana Kiros Legesse Certified Audit Firm, providing a financial overview and accountability assessment.
During the discussions, General Assembly members appreciated the progress and achievements made by EWNRA over the past year, particularly in light of the instability experienced across different parts of the country and ongoing funding challenges facing civil society organizations. Members acknowledged the organization’s resilience and continued program implementation under difficult circumstances. In response, EWNRA management and board representatives addressed the questions raised by members and provided clarifications and justifications on performance, financial management, and program implementation.
Members actively engaged in discussions on the presented reports before formally approving the board report, annual performance report, and audit report. The Assembly also reviewed and endorsed EWNRA’s 2026 annual plan, which will be submitted to the Federal Civil Society Authority for approval.
The meeting concluded with discussions on additional agenda items followed by a networking lunch. The General Assembly reaffirmed EWNRA’s commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable natural resource management, and livelihood improvement as the organization continues its work across Ethiopia.
