March 30, 2026 — The Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wollo University to strengthen collaboration in wetland and biodiversity conservation.
During the signing event, Wollo University presented its research and conservation work on wetlands in the East Amhara region, highlighting major environmental challenges and potential collaboration areas. The partnership is expected to contribute to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDGs 1, 2, 6, 13, and 15.
EWNRA also shared its 25 years of experience in wetland advocacy and conservation across Oromia, Amhara, Southwest Ethiopia, and South Ethiopia regions, noting that its work in forest conservation and land rehabilitation also supports wetland protection.
Both institutions emphasized the importance of the partnership in safeguarding endangered wetlands in East Amhara. The MoU was officially signed by, Ato Mogues Worku, Agriculture and Livelihood Directorate Director at EWNRA and Dr. Hawa Wolie, Research and Technology Transfer Vice President at Wollo University.
