A Roundtable workshop is taking place in Addis Ababa to network Minjar Shenkora Woreda Coops (under Kesem Union) with crop value chain actors.

Organized by 4R_Nutrient Stewardship Project, which is being supported by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through Cooperative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) and implemented by EWNRA, the workshop is expected to link up actors across the production and marketing processes of crops particularly Teff and Wheat.

While opening the event the representative of EWNRA’s Executive Director Mr Ahmid  Said expressed his hope that the workshop will enable the participants strengthen their network each other so that the community will benefit from the final outcomes of quality crop production.

He mentioned that the project is supporting nearly 8,000 households mainly focused on fertilizer research and utilization which directly improves crop productions in Amhara Region, Minjar Shenkora area.

Cooperative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) Country Manager Ato Berhanu Ambaw has mentioned the contributions of the government of Canada with projects like 4R and Voice for Women and Girls. He also expressed his gratitude for participants of the event and EWNRA as a major actor and implementer.

Kesem Union head Mr. Amakelew has also briefed the activities they are committing around Minjar Shenkora for participants.

Private and governmental value chain actors invited to share their experience have also presented their roles, experiences and ambitions within the process of crop productions and supply. Mr Markos Tadese is a co-founder and owner of TAPU foods in Addis Ababa. He explained how the food processing industry is being abused by illegal traders starting from the farm. His organization believes that Tapu is out there to combat unethical food processing practices affecting societal health. Therefore he urged all stakeholders of this important process to team up for better and healthy consumptions.
