The general assembly of EWNRA convened at the Inter Luxury Hotel in Addis Ababa for its annual meeting.

The general assembly of the Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) convened at the Inter Luxury Hotel in Addis Ababa for its annual meeting. This event brought together EWNRA’s highest governing body, including the organization’s management team and board members, to review and discuss the association’s progress over the past year.

During the meeting, EWNRA’s Executive Director, Mr. Afework Hailu, presented a summary of the key highlights from the 2024 annual report, outlining the organization’s significant achievements and initiatives. In addition, a representative from the auditing firm, provided a detailed explanation of the financial report for the year.

Following the presentations, the members of the general assembly engaged in a discussion, offering valuable feedback and suggestions. Many members expressed their appreciation for EWNRA’s accomplishments in 2024 and encouraged the organization to maintain its momentum moving forward. However, some members also pointed out areas where there were gaps in the annual activities, highlighting opportunities for improvement in future operations. In this regard participants suggested EWNRA to work on gender balance in the staff and push on policy issues at national issues.

Furthermore, Mr. Mesfin Sodo, EWNRA’s PPME officer, presented the organization’s proposed plan for the upcoming year, 2025. The assembly reviewed the plan and provided additional comments, ensuring that the strategy for the new year aligns with the association’s broader goals and objectives. Particularly, on the plan of EWNRA’s 25th year anniversary which is set to be celebrated by the coming October, members of the GA suggested to focus on budgeting and quality of the event.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to building on the successes of 2024 and addressing any challenges identified in order to strengthen EWNRA’s impact in the years ahead.
