Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) and The F.D.R.E. Ethiopian Forestry Development (EFD) held a bilateral meeting today at the EFD head office to explore potential areas of cooperation.

The discussion was attended by the EFD’s upper level leadership, and various CEOs, Directors, and Executives who together warmly welcomed the EWNRA team.

Following the welcoming remarks by EFD’s Director General H.E. Mr. Kebede Yimam, the Executive Director of Ethio-Wetlands Mr. Afework Hailu has presented an overview of Ethio_Wetlands, highlighting the achievements and ongoing projects, particularly those related to forestry.

EFD Deputy Director Dr. Motuma Tolera who has been encouraging the bilateral relationship between the two institutions appreciated the move to this practical level which he stated it as the first in its kind. He also vowed to maintain this between EWNRA and EFD.

The presentation that focused on the organizations activities related to forestry has showcased EWNRA efforts in conservation and sustainable management of forest ecosystems and outlined opportunities for collaboration with the EFD. presented by Mr. Ahmid Said, who is the director of forestery affairs at EWNRA mensioned that Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association currently works in 14 woredas of three regions, Gambella, Oromia and Soth west Ethiopia region.

Following the presentation, an engaging discussion took place, focusing on strategies to enhance coordination between the two organizations. At the end of the presentation, EWNRA has suggested some six areas of cooperation and coordination that EFD has totally accepted.

The session Concluded with expressions of appreciation from both sides, where directions of future actions of cooperation was set by H.E. Mr. Kebede Yimam, the director general of Ethiopian forestry development.
