EWNRA Partners with OFWE to Support 2026 Green Legacy Tree-Planting Campaign

The Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA), in partnership with the Oromia Forest & Wildlife Enterprise (OFWE), took part in the 2026 Annual Green Legacy Tree-Planting Campaign held on July 4, 2026, at Suba National Park near Sebeta in the Oromia Region. The campaign brought together government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, and community members to contribute to Ethiopia’s nationwide environmental restoration and reforestation efforts. As one of the key partners, EWNRA made significant contributions to the success of the campaign. The Association supported the initiative by providing the majority of the campaign T-shirts and actively participating in the tree-planting exercise at the designated planting site within Suba National Park. EWNRA staff joined representatives from partner organizations and local stakeholders in planting tree seedlings to help restore degraded landscapes, strengthen biodiversity conservation, and promote sustainable natural resource management.

During the official opening ceremony, Ararsa Regassa, Director General of the Oromia Forest & Wildlife Enterprise, acknowledged and thanked all organizations that collaborated in organizing and implementing the campaign. He expressed special appreciation to EWNRA for its valuable support and active participation, emphasizing that strong partnerships among government institutions, civil society organizations, and development partners are essential to achieving the objectives of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative.

EWNRA remains committed to supporting national and regional environmental conservation efforts through strategic partnerships, community engagement, and sustainable natural resource management initiatives that contribute to building a greener and more climate-resilient Ethiopia.
